XTR Rotor Housing Rolling Pin

Accelerate bedding-in. Improve surface consistency.

The XTR Rotor Housing Rolling Pin is a precision rotary engine workshop tool designed to flatten and refine rotor housing surfaces quickly and consistently. It’s ideal for both brand new and used housings, helping achieve a more uniform surface profile prior to final assembly.

On brand new housings, the rolling pin is especially effective at accelerating bedding-in times for race engines by lightly conditioning the surface, allowing seals to seat more quickly and consistently under load.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Faster bedding-in for race builds – Prepares new housings for improved initial seal contact and reduced run-in time.

  • Surface refinement – Helps flatten light high spots and minor surface irregularities.

  • Improves consistency – Creates a more uniform surface prior to measurement, lapping or assembly.

  • Simple, controlled process – Faster and more repeatable than manual methods.

What It’s For

  • Conditioning brand new housings for high-performance and race applications.

  • Cleaning up light surface imperfections on used housings.

  • Prepping surfaces before final inspection or assembly.

What It’s Not
The XTR Rotor Housing Rolling Pin is not a resurfacing tool and will not repair damaged, warped, or out-of-spec housings. It is not a substitute for professional machining or grinding where material correction is required.

This tool is intended as a surface conditioning and preparation tool, not a repair solution.

Instructions – Diamond Coated Rolling Pin (Rotor Housing Surface Conditioning)

  • Lubricate the surface
Apply a light, even coat of lubricant to the rotor housing surface you will be working on. Suitable lubricants include WD-40, CRC, or similar light penetrating oils.

  • Position the rolling pin
Place the diamond coated rolling pin directly onto the rotor housing surface. Hold the tool firmly with both hands, one on each side.

  • Resurface the housing
Move the rolling pin back and forth along the surface in a controlled, linear motion. The goal is to drag the tool across the surface rather than allowing it to freely roll.

  • Use slight wrist rotation
While moving the tool, apply a subtle wrist rotation to increase contact and effectiveness. This helps promote even material removal and surface flattening.

  • Let the weight do the work
The rolling pin weighs approximately 3 kg, so no additional downward force is required. The back-and-forth motion provides sufficient pressure for proper surface conditioning.

  • Monitor progress
Continue until the surface shows a consistent, uniform finish, indicating the rotor housing has been flattened and conditioned.

Note: This tool is designed for surface conditioning and bedding-in, not for repairing heavily damaged or deeply scored rotor housings.
